What
the Driving Standards Agency says
The Driving Standards Agency
figures say that it takes, on average, 45 hours to pass the Practical Test. This
time does vary with age, so that for a 17 to 18 year old, the figure is
about 35 hours.
As you get older, it can take longer, although the time to learn also varies
from person to person.
The DSA also claim that the average pass rate is about 45% nationally. Worcester Test
Centre average is about the same. Again, different groups have different
averages. Pupils who complete a full course of lessons with me have about a 75
- 85% chance of passing.
How to
be Better Than Average
Because so many
people have to take the test more than once, they have to keep taking more
lessons.
If you can pass first time, or in fewer attempts, you can beat the
averages.
The way to do this is to find a really good instructor who you can
learn to trust, and be serious about putting your own effort into learning.
If you
have Already had some Experience
If you have
already had some lessons, or other experience, we will use the first lesson
to work out where you are up to and to plan your course of lessons.
If you have to
retake your test, we can discuss what is involved and how many lessons it
will take at the first lesson.
If you hold a
full overseas driving licence, first make sure that you need to take the UK
test. If you are not sure, give me a call, or email me. If you need to take
the test, we can discuss what is involved when you have your first
introductory lesson. I have lots of experience to guide you through the
whole process.
If you want more
advice about how many lesson you are likely to need, email me on lessons@davideastwood.co.uk, give me a few details and I will write back, or call if you wish.
